Our History

About a month before his 15th birthday, Thomas got a job working for Abercrombie and Patterson, a funeral home in Forest Park(Clayton County). That was June 1958, and ever since then, for 50 years now, Thomas has been directing funerals. In the 1970's he built Parkway Garden Chapel and in 1987 bought and managed Tara Garden Chapel. He is no longer affiliated with Parkway or Tara. Over the years Thomas kept up with the modern developments, while resisting, at the same time, the corporate forces that emphasized money over service and reputation. Thomas wanted to get back to operating his own funeral home with emphasis on genuine customer service with personal and professional care. We offer service beyond expectation. Thomas L. Scroggs Funeral Directors was opened in August 2004 by Thomas & Linda Scroggs with the principles of respect and compassion for all the families we serve. After several years managing corporate-owned firms, Thomas was proud to once again have a family owned and operated establishment. We are carrying on the tradition with three generations involved in the business. Thomas passed away in June of 2014 leaving behind a legacy that we will carry out in his honor.
