Vivian E. Mattson, 94, of Jonesboro, beloved mother, grandmother, wife, and friend, joined her husband, Raymond J. Mattson, and son, Raymond Worth Mattson, in Heaven on October 4, 2018, after a period of declining health, during which she was cared for at home by her daughter.
Vivian was born January 16, 1924, in Piedmont, Alabama, and was the only child of Worth and Elizabeth King.
Vivian married her husband, Raymond J. Mattson in 1940, at the beginning of his career in the U.S, Army, in Heflin, Alabama and supported him faithfully during his twenty years of service in WWII, the Korean War, and foreign posting in Japan. Vivian retired from the Cluett Peabody Company of Atlanta. Vivian and Raymond celebrated 68 years of marriage before Raymond's death in 2009. Together they raised two children, Janet Mattson Starr and Raymond Worth Mattson. Vivian Was long-time member of Community Bible Church of Stockbridge.
Left to cherish her memory are Vivian's daughter, Janet Mattson Starr; daughter-in-law, Janice Mattson; four grandchildren: Lisa and Joey Rowe, Leslie and Scott Spradlin, Steve Mattson, and Rayna and Russell Lee; great-grandchildren: Matthew and Katherine Baker, Dylan and Sarah Rowe; Victoria, Hannah, and Rebekah Spradlin; Stevie Mattson; and Taylor, Caleb, Justin, Gracy, and Josh Lee; and two nephews, Larry and Monica Raisanen; and Ronald and Margaret Raisanen.
Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 12:30 pm at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Forest Park, Georgia, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10am-12pm.
Vivian's family and friends will always remember her kindness, generosity, and love for babies. She will be deeply missed; however, we are comforted in the knowledge she is in Heaven with Our Heavenly Father and no longer in pain.
