Russell Gene Henson

Russell Gene Henson, fondly known as "Rusty," was born on June 5, 1962, in Atlanta, Georgia. He passed away on December 25, 2024, leaving behind a legacy marked by hard work, love, and cherished memories. A dedicated professional, Rusty spent many years working as a plumber before recently stepping into the entrepreneurial world with the establishment of his own landscaping business. His commitment to his craft and the pride he took in his work were evident to all who knew him.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Rusty was a devoted family man and a dedicated member of his community. He served as a Sergeant in the Army National Guard, demonstrating his commitment to his country. Rusty’s spirit was underpinned by his faith as a devoted Christian, attending church regularly until health issues made it difficult for him to do so.

Rusty’s warm personality was characterized by his sense of humor and kindness. He possessed a unique ability for comedic timing, often making those around him laugh with his witty observations, sometimes without realizing just how funny he could be. His love for family was paramount, particularly evident in the small acts of love he shared, including making his wife, Donna Henson, breakfast in bed, bringing her flowers from their yard, and leaving her little love notes. He was also celebrated for his culinary skills, particularly his talent for grilling, where pork chops were among his favorite meals to prepare.

Rusty cherished time spent in nature, especially when it involved fishing. Memories of fishing trips with his brother Kelly and friends remain vivid, including a proud moment etched in his heart when he caught a remarkable 75-pound carp — a prized catch that he fondly recalled. His passion for fishing extended to his beloved boat and provided joy and relaxation throughout his life.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Henson, whom he cherished for 20 years; his father, Ronnie Henson; his daughter, Randi Henson; his brother, Kelly Henson (Renee); his granddaughter, Adel Henson; his niece, Danielle Henson; and his two dogs, Levi and Bella. Rusty was preceded in death by his mother, Bobbie Henson, and his nephew, Russ Henson.

A visitation for Russell Gene Henson will take place on January 18th, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at Thomas L. Scroggs Funeral Directors in Morrow, Georgia. The service will commence at 1:00 PM and conclude at 2:00 PM.

Rusty's genuine spirit, humor, and unwavering love for his family and friends will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him. His legacy will continue to inspire those left behind, and his memories will be cherished forever.
