Robert "Bob" Edward Callahan

Robert (Bob) Edward Callahan, 76, of Rex, Georgia passed to his heavenly home on August 3, 2023. Robert was born January 23, 1947, the son of William Lewis and Dorothy Caldwell Callahan.

Bob proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, stationed in the Philippines. He always liked to joke that he joined the Air Force because he was "a lover, not a fighter." He married the love of his life, Susan, November 27, 1971. They were married for 51 years.
Bob worked with computers from the time they were first invented until he retired. He marveled at how far the industry had come from its early days of a machine filling an entire room, to a computer you hold in your hand and he loved to talk with anyone who would listen, about this amazing fact.

Bob was, first and foremost, a man of faith. He taught an adult Sunday School class at The Rock Baptist Church for over 30 years. He sang in the choir and also led worship services at a local nursing home for many years. His deep, bass voice ringing down the hall with hymns of praise. He was proudest of the fact that all three of his daughters are, as adults, practicing Christians.
He had many friends and was known for having a warm smile and a story for anyone who would listen. Bob treated people with the dignity he knew they deserved as beloved children of God.

He will be missed by all who knew him, but most especially by his wife, Susan Callahan of Rex,GA, his daughters Julia (Fijoy, Briel, Della, and Liam Vadakkumpadan) of Morrisville, NC, Catherine (Dustin, Eli, and Makii Wright) of Griffin, GA, and Christine Callahan of Rex, GA.
A memorial service in celebration of his life will take place Saturday, August 12 at 1:00 pm at The Rock Baptist Church in Rex, GA. Pastor Steve Foster will officiate. The family will greet friends at a reception to follow in the Gathering space.
