Laverne Hammock Gray passed away peacefully at her home in Lake City, GA on November 5, 2018. She was born in AL on August 17, 1923.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters,1 brother, and her husband, Dallas H. Gray. Mrs. Gray remarried Horace Bullington who passed away as well.
Laverne, better known as Nanny Verne by those who knew and loved her, is survived by her son, Rev. Dallas K. Gray; daughter, Priscilla Berry (Wayne); stepson, Bernard Bullington; stepdaughters, Audrey Tatum, Peggy Toney, Charlotte Athern, and Teresa Pitts; sisters, Elvie Boone, and Betty Ann Earles (Jimmy), 8 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 19 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Nanny Verne was a true Proverbs 31, verse 30:31 woman. She loved the Lord, her family, and friends with all of her heart. She is loved more than words can express and will be greatly missed by any life she has touched.
Services for Mrs. Gray will be held at Thomas L. Scroggs Funeral Directors on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 11:00 am. Bro. Lee Morgan will be officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday 5pm-8pm.
