Laura Eliese Cofield

March 21, 1937 — July 25, 2021

Laura Eliese Cofield made her transition from this life on July 25, 2021 at Benton Village Assisted Living in Stockbridge, Georgia. Laura was born on March 21, 1937 at Georgia Baptist Hospital to the union of the late Mildred Mae and Johnnie Clyde Cofield.

Laura received Christ at the early age of 12 and she loved the Lord.  She was a devoted member of Morrow First United Methodist Church in Morrow, Georgia until she was no longer able to worship there.

Laura attended and graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education. Upon completion of her education, she became an employee of Delta Airlines. After 38 years of dedicated service she retired as an executive secretary in propulsion engineering.

Laura loved using her fancy sewing machine, but she possessed many natural innate talents which she used to produce very skillful and beautiful hand-crafted and fine arts; which she skillfully displayed and decorated in her lovely home. Her many talents led to hobbies; creating paintings in oil and painting fine china plates, cups, lamps, and other glass pieces. She also loved embroidery and tatting intricate lace doilies and other decorative fine lace accessories. And if that wasn't enough she also loved to cook.

Laura was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Embroidery Guild of America. Her favorite hymn was "How Great Thou Art". Her favorite scripture, John 3:16 , "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Laura was very independent and did not mince or sugar-coat words. She treated her fellow man with respect and love.  When her parents were alive, her father, who did not like to travel, insisted that Laura accompany her mom on an oversea trip every year. Her favorite trip was Israel, but some of the other places they visited included, Amsterdam, Italy, Ireland, Germany, France, England, Hawaii, Mexico, Canada, Norway, Yugoslavia, and many other countries.

Laura will be sorely missed. The Lord has called you home rest, so rest well my friend. We will hold your memory close to our hearts until we are all together again in Heaven.

Services will be held at Morrow First United Methodist Church, 5985 Jonesboro Rd, Morrow, GA 30260, on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 11:00 AM. Lie in state at 10:00 AM. Rev. Dr. Karen Lyons will be officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.
