Kenneth "Ken" Campbell, a beloved family man and dedicated H.R. Manager, passed away on January 10, 2024, in Jonesboro, Georgia. Ken was born in Laurens, South Carolina on August 30, 1930, and throughout his remarkable journey of 93 years, he touched the lives of countless individuals with his warm and welcoming nature.
Known for his ability to make everyone feel comfortable and at ease, Ken earned the reputation of being the life of the party. He possessed a loving and funny personality that brought joy to those around him. He approached every aspect of life with a strong work ethic and dedication to his family, wife, church, and community.
After proudly serving 2 years in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, Ken was honorably discharged. He then embarked on his career as an H.R. Manager until his well-earned retirement.
Beyond his professional life, Ken had a passion for music. He adored playing piano and singing from the depths of his heart. To him, music held both a message and an avenue for connection. His love for golf, flying (earning himself a private pilot license), bowling, and enthusiastically supporting the Atlanta Braves showcased his zest for life.
However, above all else, Ken treasured spending time with his grandchildren. Their laughter brought him immeasurable joy that words cannot adequately capture.
Ken's unwavering faith made Morrow Presbyterian Church an integral part of his life for 59 years. He actively served as a Deacon, an Elder, Elder Emeritus and Trustee at Morrow Presbyterian Church while also lending his melodious voice to the choir. Additionally, he took on leadership roles as the Interim Choir director and coordinator for the Young at Heart group. As leader of the Back Row Bunch alongside Janis, Bruce, Carol, and Steve McLeod, he fostered deep bonds within the church community.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Janis Campbell of Jonesboro, GA. Together, they built a strong foundation of love and support that will forever be cherished. His son Bruce Campbell and wife Carol, residing in Ellenwood, GA, stood by Ken's side throughout his final moments listening to the gospel music he so loved. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by his brother Jim Campbell of Burnsville, NC; grandson Christopher Campbell of Alameda, CA; granddaughter Kelsey Dwinnell and husband Mason of Atlanta, GA; grandson Corey Campbell of Ellenwood, GA; several nieces and nephews; and his cherished church family. He was preceded by his daughter, Dianne Campbell, brother, Charlie Campbell, and sister-in-law, Mabel Campbell.
Ken's presence illuminated every room he entered and he always had a song ready to sing. He had an innate ability to brighten even the stormiest of days with his infectious laughter and genuine kindness. As we celebrate his life and mourn our loss, let us remember the legacy he leaves behind - one filled with music, love, laughter, and a deep devotion to family and community.
