Jane's journey began in Atlanta in 1937. She was born, raised, and educated in the Atlanta area known as Capitol View. This is where she attended Capitol View Baptist Church and met her future husband, Dutch Young. Jane and Dutch were married in 1956 and lived in Capitol View, during which time Jane worked at Atlanta Gas, Gulf Oil, and Fort McPherson. They moved to Morrow, Georgia in the early 1960’s to open an automobile service station. Jane helped with many aspects of running the business. She joined the Morrow Women’s Civic Club and served the community in many ways through that organization. She also become very active in the Morrow First Baptist Church. She served as a Sunday School teacher, pianist, church secretary, visitation chairman, Vacation Bible School director, and much more. One of her greatest accomplishments was establishing a Young Adult Sunday School department and serving as director.
Jane’s beloved Dutch passed away in 1991, but Jane continued a vigorous and meaningful life in many ways. She travelled with family and friends to many places around the world. Jane enjoyed her work helping people at the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce for many years. When Jane decided to sell the family home and acreage, she insisted that it be used in a way that benefited the community. The result of that decision was a site for the Pristine Chapel, a venue providing beautiful services to the community. Jane enjoyed working at the Chapel for several years. Throughout this time, Jane remained involved with committees, service, and fellowship at her church.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband Dutch as well as her longtime companion, Clyde Waldron. She also lost two adult children, Dean and Mitch, and will be able to see them in heaven. She is survived by her daughter Cheryl and her son Brent. Her grandchildren Lauren, Sarah, Alexandra, Cole, and Gavin will miss her dearly. Jane also has a great-grandson, Finn.
In addition to her Savior Jesus Christ, her family, and church, among Jane’s greatest joys was working with the children's department. In lieu of flowers, she would appreciate a donation to a children's home.
