Jackie Phillips, age 89, of Griffin, GA, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2024. Born on May 16, 1935, Jack was a man of deep faith, love for his family, and passion for life.
Jack was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Dianne, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with joy, love, and the support of a strong family bond. Jack was a proud father to three daughters, who will always cherish his guidance, kindness, and the example of integrity he set. In addition to his children, Jack leaves behind six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense pride and happiness.
For many years, Jack owned and operated Clayton Floor and Wallcovering, a business he took great pride in. Jack was also long active in the First Baptist Church of Forest Park, where he served in various mission roles, helping others with his time and talents. His strong belief in God and commitment to his church family were guiding lights in his life.
Jack’s competitive spirit was a defining trait that touched all areas of his life. Whether it was a game of golf, a family gathering, enjoying a game of cards or his work, Jack always gave his best. His drive to succeed and excel was evident in everything he did. Jack taught his family and friends the importance of perseverance, commitment, and the joy of embracing life’s challenges head-on.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, siblings and grandson Andrew Quigley. He is survived by his wife, Dianne; children Valerie (Ricky) Jennings, Jackie (Donald) Carter, Kim Quigley; grandchildren Ashley (Davan) Abney, Zachary (Fame) Jennings, Stephen Quigley, Ryan Rich, Jacob (Rebecca) Rich, Rachel Quigley; 7 great grandchildren and many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
A memorial service to honor Jack’s life will be held at Thomas Scroggs Funeral Home in Morrow, GA on December 20, 2024. Family will receive guests at 12pm with service immediately following at 1pm.
