Helen Ruth Kempton

Helen Ruth Kempton, 93, of Forest Park, passed away at her residence on May 30, 2021. Services will be held at Thomas L. Scroggs Funeral Directors on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Dr. Candy Thacker will officiate. Interment will follow at College Park Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends prior to service beginning at 1:00 pm.

Helen was born in Commerce, Ga on March 21, 1928. She graduated high school as her class valedictorian. On February 3, 1951, Helen married the love of her life, Chester Phillip Kempton in Atlanta, Georgia. They were married for 70 years. Helen worked and retired from JC Penney. She attended Jones Memorial United Methodist Church. 

Helen was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Lana Kempton. She is survived by her husband, Chester Kempton; daughters, Nancy Stonecypher (Hal) of Forest Park and Susan Smith (Tim) of Acworth; sons, Phillip Kempton (Patty) of Darian, David Kempton of Forest Park, and John Kempton (Gina) of Concord; grandchildren, Brett Kempton, Colby Kempton, Hannah Kempton, Stephen Smith, Lori Haney, Selina Kempton, and Christopher Kempton.
