She and Grady were married on June 10, 1944, and she then sent him off to the European Theater of WWII to not see him again for over a year. He returned only to be deployed to the Pacific Theater. They moved to Forest Park after the war and raised two beautiful daughters, Lydia and Lucy. Nanny was a loyal member of Ash Street Baptist Church since 1955 and rarely ever missed a Sunday. She was fiercely guided by her faith and loved talking about it. Often telling everyone to sing hymns when life gets hard or if they were lonely. A graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan College, she and Grady owned Lovin’s Furniture Inc. for many years before retiring in 1986. Nanny continued to drive herself around town in her token Lincoln Town Car up until Easter Sunday 2019, age 98, and lived on her own until God called her home. For many years, she always said “My bags are packed (for heaven)” and was especially excited to tell her Dad how long she lived. She feared that her family thought she had gone to hell because she had not arrived in Heaven yet.
She is survived by her daughters, Lydia Jackson (Dewey) of Sharpsburg and Lucy Laney (Alex) of Dunwoody; grandchildren, Amy Jackson Engram (Travis), Chris Laney (Christie), Jeffrey Jackson (Katie), Lori Laney Flores (Obadiah); great grandchildren, Taylor, Joshua, Liam, Adeline, Sawyer, Sofia, and Sarah, numerous nieces and nephews.
