Gudrun E "Goody" Johnson

Gudrun E "Goody" Johnson, a gracious soul, passed on December 27, 2023, in Jonesboro, Georgia. She was born on January 25, 1943, in Berlin, Germany. Gudrun will be remembered not only for her loving and helpful nature but also for being a devoted wife to her husband Ronald Johnson.

Gudrun had a remarkable personality that left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. Her genuine warmth and compassion made her an exceptional friend, and her unwavering support made her an amazing wife. Gudrun's love knew no bounds, and she poured it into everything she did.

One of Gudrun's greatest joys in life was volunteering for the city of Morrow. She dedicated countless hours and energy to making her community a better place for everyone. Gudrun's unwavering commitment to service earned her admiration from all who knew her. She wrapped packages for Cops for Kids, served as a volunteer at the Morrow Visitors Center, and even worked as a translator for the city of Morrow. Her selfless acts of kindness touched many lives and inspired others to follow in her footsteps.

Beyond her volunteer work, Gudrun found solace in creative pursuits. She was an accomplished seamstress with a talent for sewing and needlepoint. Her skillful hands brought life to delicate fabrics, creating beautiful pieces that will be treasured by generations to come. In addition to her sewing talents, Gudrun had a green thumb and enjoyed spending time in her garden nurturing plants with care and devotion.

Gudrun is survived by her beloved husband Ronald Johnson, who shared a deep bond filled with love and affection. Theirs was a partnership built on trust and understanding that stood the test of time.

She is also survived by her loving daughter Michelle Mayorga; son Raul Mayorga and his wife Stacey; two grandsons whose hearts were filled with love and admiration for their grandmother, and a granddaughter who adored her.

To honor Gudrun's life, a visitation will be held on January 2, 2024, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Thomas L. Scroggs Funeral Directors located at 6362 South Lee St., Morrow, GA 30260. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and share in the memories of a remarkable woman.

Gudrun's final resting place will be at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. Interment services will take place on January 4, 2024, beginning at 10:00 am. The cemetery, located at 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, will serve as a peaceful and serene backdrop as friends and family bid their farewell.

Gudrun E "Goody" Johnson has left an indelible mark on the lives of all who knew her. Her graciousness, selflessness, and loving nature will be remembered forever. Although she may no longer be with us in person, her spirit will live on through the memories she created and the lives she touched. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
