Evelyn Williams, born Evelyn Pope on December 21, 1937, in Atlanta, GA, has passed away peacefully on May 14, 2024, in Forest Park, Georgia. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Evelyn will be forever remembered for the cherished memories she created with her loved ones. One such memory was the day she mastered making Grandma Williams' cookies—a tradition that brought joy and sweetness to her family. On June 25, 1955, she embarked on a lifelong journey with her beloved husband P.N. Williams in holy matrimony.
Evelyn possessed a remarkable ability to retain knowledge and had an extensive understanding of plants; her green thumb was evident in her love for gardening. Her gentle and loving nature resonated with all who knew her. She was easy-going, soft-spoken, and always put her family first.
One of Evelyn's proudest accomplishments was her passion for beekeeping. She was an active member of various beekeeping associations including the Tara Beekeepers Association, Metro Beekeeper Association, Henry County Beekeepers Association, Alabama Beekeepers Association, Georgia Beekeepers Association, Coweta Beekeepers Association, and was a proud member of the Kiwanis Club.
Evelyn's legacy lives on through her surviving family members: her devoted husband of 69 years P.N. Williams; loving daughters Kathy Williams & partner Donna Mullins and Eve Dahlke & husband Doug; cherished grandson Joshua Young & wife Jacquelyn; adored great-granddaughter Kyleigh Young; beloved granddaughter Allison Kirk & husband Joe; treasured great-grandsons Wyatt Kirk and Erik Kirk; caring sister Theresa Hester & husband Randy; brother Joe Pope & wife Martha; Aunt Ann Hopson, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest & Mildred Pope, -grandson, Ross Young.
The memories Evelyn created and the love she shared will forever hold a special place in the hearts of all who knew her. A service to honor and remember Evelyn will be held at Thomas L. Scroggs Funeral Directors in Morrow on May 18, 2024 - including visitation at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. The interment will take place at Sherwood Memorial Park in Jonesboro at 1:30 PM.
In this time of loss, may we find solace in the memories we shared with Evelyn. May she rest in peace knowing she was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
