On July 25, 2023, Elouise (Atkinson McPherson) Crumley was welcomed home after a long and faithful life serving our Lord, Jesus Christ. Her husband, Truett William Crumley, Sr.; mother, Virginia Mae Abbott (Wood Atkinson); step-father Chris Abbott; her father, William Henry (Buck) Atkinson, Sr.; step-mother Rebecca Atkinson; her sister, Frances (Atkinson) McDonald; her brother, William Henry Atkinson, Jr.; her grandson, Joseph (Josh) Terrell DeLong; and her daughter-in-law, Carolyn Crumley were all waiting.
To all who knew her well, she was known as the person to take in their troubles and worry right along with them, until she could find a solution. She loved those near and dear to her with her whole heart. She attended Rock Springs Baptist Church and New Testament Baptist Church, where she was her Sunday school class secretary and a member of the choir. She had a beautiful soprano voice. Her aspirations as a child and young adult were to be an opera singer. Instead, she recorded a country single with three family members. She was never known by the world for her voice but, it was enjoyed by those around her. Ever since a young teenager, she has loved clothes and shoes; always dressed fashionably. She was known to buy her mother and her matching outfits. She was an avid gardener with two green thumbs. She grew a beautiful green yard which began as Georgia clay. She loved to cultivate her azaleas, roses and tulips.
She began her working career as a soda jerk at the Rexall Pharmacy in Atlanta, near Buckhead, in 1950, at the age of 13. She was soon promoted to a cashier. She has also worked as an aide in nursing homes, a physical therapist at a Ga Department of Human Resources Special Needs Day School and has owned her own commercial cleaning company.
She is survived by two sons: William Raymond (Ray) McPherson, Jr. (Cathy) and Richard McPherson (Colleen); three daughters: Janet McPherson Harrell (Wright), Melissa McPherson Hawk (Bob) and Mechelle McPherson Reitzammer (Marcus). She has eight grandchildren: Mandy, Russell, Dustin, Tyler, Mitchell, Josh, Anthony and Madison. She has 13 great grandchildren: Autumn, Raleigh, Kaitlyn, Lillie, Annabella, Luna, Michaela, Madelyn, Orville, Hunter, Cayden, Kinsley and Mason. She has one great-great grandchild on the way. She is survived by many cousins, nephews, and a niece.
We will always carry her in our hearts.
