Barbara Vaughan Brown

Barbara Vaughan Brown, 83, of Demorest, GA and recently Summerville, SC passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 24, 2023. A Funeral Service will be held in her honor on Monday, October 2, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Thomas Scroggs Funeral Home with Pastor Russell Naquin officiating. A visitation for family and friends to gather will be held prior to the service between the hour of 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Monday. Barbara will be laid to rest at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens following the service.

Barbara is survived by her loving daughter, Michele Bailey of Summerville, SC; sisters, Carolyn Fouts of Franklin, TN. and Frances Boyce of Ellenwood, GA; brothers, Jerry Vaughan & wife Melba of Rex, GA., David Brookshire & wife Susie of Cumming, GA, and Dale Brookshire & wife Connie of Charlotte, NC; granddaughters, Jessica Miller & husband Robert of Summerville, SC and Kristine Brannock (Gerald) of Hiram GA; grandsons, Christopher Bailey & wife Meredith of Duluth, GA and Matthew Brannock of Douglasville, GA; 5 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Brannock and son-in-law, Thomas Bailey. 

Barbara Vaughan Brown was born Tuesday, February 27, 1940 in Atlanta, GA to Lorenzo & Jessie Vaughan. She worked for TDK Components USA in Peachtree City, GA and retired after 15 years. Barbara was very focused on the local communities in which she lived. Her faith was very personal to her and she sustained a close relationship with God. Barbara was a true southern lady; she lived a quiet and dignified life and honored her love of God and country.  She enjoyed being out in her yard working in her flower gardens and capturing those flowers in photos. Barbara had a lifelong love for animals, especially dogs. She always had a faithful companion by her side. She had a quiet adoration for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose photographs adorned her home. Watching her grandchildren become parents and raise up her great-grand babies brought her much joy. Barbara’s presence will be forever missed.
