Loretta Austin

Martha Loretta Yocum Austin was born on December 13, 1927 in Pittsburgh, PA and passed peacefully from this life at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Newnan, Ga on August 27, 2017. She met John Lewis Austin, Jr. while he served in the Navy. After a couple of years of dating and corresponding they married in 1946 and moved to Forest Park, Georgia in 1950. They lived and raised their four boys and one daughter at 506 Whitley Drive. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and two sons, Richard Wayne (Ricky) and Jeffrey Robert (Jeff). Left to mourn her passing are her children and their spouses Johnny and Lynn Austin, Charlie and Sheila Austin, Ricky's wife Faith Austin, Nancy and John Plowman, brother-in-law Charlie T Austin. Mourning also is devoted family friend (who lovingly assisted in caring for Grandma) Tommie Lyles Coggin. Her passing is also mourned by 17 grandchildren, their spouses and 35 great grandchildren as well as many other family members and friends. Services will be held at Rock Springs Baptist Church on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 11:00am. Rev. Michael Plowman and Rev. McCauley Austin. Interment to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends at the church from 10Am-11am. If so desired, In lieu of flowers please make donations to Rock Springs Baptist Church-Missions.
