Charles Roger Conner, 63, died on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 from injuries sustained in a one vehicle accident in Gainesville, Ga. He was born in Pitts, Ga. on February 28, 1952 and was a resident of College Park, Ga. Roger graduated from Wilcox County High School in 1970. He attended Clayton Junior College and later graduated from the University of Georgia with a business degree in 1974. He married Penny Haynie of Morrow, Ga. on June 9, 1973. He worked for Delta Air Lines for 27 years. After retirement from Delta, he worked for Henry County. He also was an entrepreneur with a construction and home inspection business of his own. He was preceded in death by his parents John G. and Velma D. Conner, as well as his father-in-law William A. Haynie and is survived by his wife, Penny Conner; sons, Cy Augustus Conner and Joshua Greene Conner and his wife, Kelly Godwin; grandchildren, Beckett Roger Conner and Kennedy Greene Conner; sisters, Gloria Conner Hisel (Lou), Johnnie Conner Clements (Jackie); mother-in-law, Doris W. Haynie; sisters-in-law, Kathy Haynie Hislip (Dan), Cynthia Leigh Haynie (John Lavelle) and Wendy Haynie Cosby (Larry); numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was a master of many talents and enjoyed golfing and fishing on a regular basis. He was a mainstay at Jones Memorial United Methodist Church in Lake City, Ga. He was chairman of the Board of Trustees, president of the United Methodist Men and captain of the cooking crew for the church's annual Barbecues and First Responders Breakfasts. Visitation with the family will be held Saturday, September 26 at 10:00 am at Jones Memorial UMC followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am.
