Orestus Henry Adamson (90) was born in Ellenwood, Georgia on December 22, 1924. He passed away on May 20, 2015. While growing up in Ellenwood, he plowed a mule and ran a cotton gin. During World War II he worked at the Atlanta Army Depot. Postwar, he was a bus contractor for the Clayton County School system where he met a school teacher, Charlotte Patricia Nash. They were married in December 1952. He owned a store, C&A Grocery and Supply, on the corner of Hwy 42 and Ellenwood Road from 1948 to 1969. He furthered his entrepreneurial efforts by building numerous houses in the Ellenwood area and was a dealer of farm and construction equipment. He was a charter member of the Clayton County Hospital Authority, now Southern Regional Medical Center where he served for 37 years. He was also a member of the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce for more than 60 years and was honored with their first Life Time Achievement Award and their executive board room bears his name. Later in life he resided in Fayetteville, Georgia. He is survived by his son, Tim and his daughter, Jane, and his grandchildren, Brittany, Emma, Olivia and Jesse. Visitation is Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Thomas Scroggs Funeral Home from 5:30-8:00. Funeral service: National Heights Baptist Church, 103 Old Norton Road, Fayetteville, GA on May 27, 2015 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the National Heights Baptist Church.
