O'Neilda McConnaughey Wells

O'Neilda McConnaughey Wells, of Morrow, passed away on January 12, 2015. She was born on November 10, 1923 in Atlanta, Ga to Eugene Corl McConnaughey and Ada Cleveland McConnaughey. O'Neilda was married to Charles Edward Wells of Mount Vernon, Georgia for over 50 years until his passing in 1996. She was a member of Cascade Baptist Church, Dogwood Hills Baptist Church, and finally, for the last 40 plus years, at First Baptist Church of Forest Park. A longtime member of the East Point Women's Club, O'Neilda served several terms as club president and club treasurer. She also served as president of the 5th District of the Georgia Federation of Women's Clubs. O'Neilda was elected Clubwoman of the year in 1982. She was a member of the Board of Trustees of Tallulah Falls, Georgia, and served one term as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. She is currently Trustee Emeritus. She is survived by her sons, Charles E. Wells, Jr. and Robert Bruce Wells; daughter-in-law, Martha B. Wells, granddaughter, Ann Elizabeth Wells; grandson, John Brinson Wells, several nieces and nephews. A service will be held at First Baptist Church of Forest Park on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 11:00am. She will lie in state at 10:00am. Dr. Reed Crumbliss will be officiating. Interment to follow at Longpond Cemetery in Longpond, Georgia on Friday at 11:00am. The family will be accepting friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5-8pm.
