Charles S. Tucker, Jr., of McDonough, 88, passed away on October 20, 2014. Mr. Tucker served four years in the Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was a 1950 graduate of the University of Georgia, receiving a BS degree in agriculture. He was listed in "Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities", was secretary-treasurer of the Senior class, president of the Ag Club and Gaffau Club, and was a member of Gridiron, Blue Key, Aghon, and the Demosthenian Literary Society. He was a dedicated member of the Bulldawg Nation. He was director of UGA Cooperative Extension Services for 30 years in Butts and Clayton Counties and served on the Clayton County Board of Education. He was a founding member of Historical Jonesboro and is a member of First Baptist Church McDonough. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Virginia Knowles Tucker; his 3 children: Richard Tucker, and his wife, Pam, Robert Tucker and his wife, Kelley, Rebecca Casey and her husband, Alec; 6 grandchildren: Cathy, Ginny, Charlie, Zack, Tad, and Erica; 3 great granddaughters, Georgia, Gracyn, and Lillian. He is also survived by his brother, Edward Tucker, and nieces and nephews. Services will be held in the chapel at Thomas L. Scroggs Funeral Directors on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 11:00 AM, officiated by Rev. Mike Henderson. Interment to follow at East Lawn Cemetery. The family will be accepting friends on Thursday evening from 5-8PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Henry County 4-H Club, 97 Lake Dow Rd., McDonough, Ga 30252.
