Hervey W. Amick

Hervey W. Amick, of Stockbridge, WWII veteran, passed away on September 15, 2014. He worked in the education system for Clayton, Habersham, and Stephens counties for a combined 37 years. He proudly spent 4 years as an assistant principal, 16 years as a high school coach, and 17 years as principal at Forest Park Sr. High School. Services for Mr. Amick will be held in the chapel at Thomas L. Scroggs Funeral Directors on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 11:00 am. Rev. Irvin Pearre will be officiating. Interment to follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will be accepting friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5-8 pm. He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Wilma Amick. He is survived by his sons, David Amick (Cheryl) of Woodstock, Paul Amick (Kay) of Lakemont; sisters, Helen Stutts of High Point, NC., Polly Yow of Greensboro, NC; brother, Bob Amick (Martha) of Greensboro, NC, 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
