Wilson Burks, Jr. was born on December 19, 1965 to the late Wilson Burks, Sr. and Carolyn Jester Burks. Throughout the years Deacon Edward Wheeler, his stepfather, was very instrumental in his upbringing and helped to develop him into a respectable young man. On May 28, 2014, God saw a smile and a gentle soul and said, "I need that angel to help me in my kingdom. So, he called him home. Wilson joined the Brown Avenue Baptist Church at an early age. He was an active member of the choir, BTU and VBS allowing allowing the Holy Spirit to use him as an instrument. Wilson played and dedicated his time to coaching youth sports. Later, he married Sharon and moved his membership to Philadelphia Baptist Church. He's a graduate from the Atlanta Public School System. Wilson was a servant. He exemplified this unique quality by serving in the United States Military. Later in his life, Wilson was employed by the Atlanta Public School System where he served 27 and a half years, and was a UPS worker for eleven years until he was called home. Wilson leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, Carolyn Jester Ingram; his grandmother, Mrs. Kathleen Stillwell; three sons, Antwain Burks, Trey Burks, and Wilson Burks, III; daughter, Latoya Burks; four brothers, John Burks, Vinson Burks, Keith Burks, and De'Yon Wheeler; two grandchildren, Tyshawn Burks and Zy'Mirah Burks; and a host of nieces and nephews and a devoted and loving friend, Glenda Sanford and other family members and friends. Services will be held in the chapel at Thomas L. Scroggs Funeral Directors on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Dr. Reed Crumbliss and Rev. Dr. Robert Rice, Jr. will b officiating. Interment to follow at Rose Garden Cemetery in McDonough. The family will be accepting friends prior to service from 12:00 pm - 1:45 pm.
