Janet Helmns Huls, 86, of Forest Park passed away June 26, 2013. The daughter of the late Haskell and Lillie Cremeens Helmns, she was born and reared in Austin, Indiana. Mrs. Huls was instrumental in the development of the Clayton County program for Children with Learning Disabilities and worked diligently getting state legislation passed. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Forest Park. At the time of her retirement she worked for the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command at Fort Gillem. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray L. Huls, and son Alan Ray Huls and sister Madge Wilson. Survivors include a sister, Jean Abner of Hillsboro Beach, FL.; grandson, Edward Burns and wife Tiffany; great grandchildren,Israel, Olivia, CiAnna, Kaden and Ireland; granddaughter, Stephanie Malaki and husband Anthony and great grandchildren Ely and Estella; sister-in-law, Myrtle Kahl of Indiana; nieces, Sondra Campbell, Judy Hill and nephew Don Lewis and wife Pat of Indiana. Other special people in her life are Donna and Buddy Craven, Steve Evans, Hal White and Kenneth White. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the chapel of Thomas L. Scroggs Funeral Directors with interment to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Pastor Jason Nix will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
