Lena Green Byington

Mrs. Lena Green Byington of Jonesboro passed away March 26, 2012 at the age of 90. Lena was born Sept. 2, 1921 in Forsyth County, Ga. to her parents, Floy Hill Green and Walter Green. Most of Lena's married life was spent in Forest Park where she raised her family. She was a wonderful christian mother and wife. She was a member of Forest Park First Baptist Church for nearly 60 years. Her second career began as a sales representative for the Rich's (Macy's) department store where she worked for 25 years. She also worked for Genuine Parts (NAPA) in Atlanta for many years when she first married. Lena now rests in God's everlasting arms. She was preceded in death by her parents ,Floy Hill Green and Walter Green; her husband, James Augustus Byington; brothers, Walter "Bill" Green and Leon Green and is survived by her daughters, Joy Redmond (Bill), Marietta, Jimmie Jenkins (Terry), Conyers and Jane Chaffin (Ron), Covington; sisters, Laura Meese, Riverdale, Jessie Brown. Atlanta and Dorothy Latta, Burlington, NC; grandchildren, Renee Westmoreland, Alpharetta, Jamie Redmond. Littleton CO., Lori Dawson, Clarkston, Kelly Jenkins, Midville, Tiffany Chaffin, Orlando, FL and Wesley Chaffin, Covington; great grandson, Alex Westmoreland, Alpharetta. Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Forest Park First Baptist Church. She will lie in stated starting at 1:00pm. Interment to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. Dr. Reed Crumbliss will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
